Composers Celebration Concert

Play What You Feel

Composers have long been putting their feelings down on paper. As performers, we personalize their music and convey our own feelings as we play. This recital gives students the opportunity to focus on developing their expressive, emotive communication.

Repertoire ideas:
“Theme from a Rage over a Lost Penny” by Beethoven
“The Happy Farmer” by Schumann
We are looking for music that has strong emotional energy. Even if the title does not specifically reference an emotion, the piece will have one or more emotional qualities. We can list that quality next to the title in parenthesis. This will give the student a goal to work toward in performance.

For example:
“Toccata Brilliante” by Dennis Alexander (exhilaration)
“Moonlight Sonata” by Beethoven (melancholy)

Registration Fee: $15.00 per student

Teachers can enter as many students as they wish. Each performer has a time limit of 6 minutes. All solo performances must be done from memory. All performers are required to stay for the entire duration of their concert time to observe and support their peers. Due to liability reasons, a parent or a legal guardian must accompany students under the age of 16.

We will be hosting our annual Toy Drive at this event. Please spread the word and share the holiday festivities. Bring any new, unopened and unwrapped toy or a new book or a gift card for us to donate. All gifts will go to Helen’s Hope Chest, an organization that helps foster children.
